Thoughts on losing Jim Johnson

By Ben Baney

I feel for Jim Johnson, and i wish him all the best in his recovery. And while a part of me hopes he can return to the team in time, i would totally understand if he felt he could no longer fulfill his duties due to health.

As an Eagle fan, I count myself lucky to have had for some time witness one of the best defensive minds to be involved with the NFL. I feel like our blitizing chaotic defense really was one of the most fun defenses I've ever really watched, and when it's all said in done, one of the best of the decade. Players just flew around the field and even though we never had what i would say a truly dominant player, together they played to an outstanding rate. Dawkins or Trotter was probably closest but we had always been a defense by committee. When we finally got to the superbowl our offense was the bigger show, but the reason we've been competive for so long over the past decade has been our defense.

Wishing him all the best with his treatments, and a big thank you to one Jim Johnson
