Eagles Sign One More Undrafted Free Agent

Eagles Sign Arizona CB Ross
By Lance Epstein

Earlier today the Philadelphia Eagles announce that they agreed to terms with 11 undrafted rookies. According to University of Arizona cornerback Devin Ross, he is now a member of the Philadelphia Eagles after signing a contract.

On Ross's facebook, he reported that he has come to terms on a free agent contract with the Eagles, which now makes the total n number of free agent rookies to sign with the team at12. It comes a bit of a shock that Ross did not get drafted considering many experts had him chalked him up a a big-time sleeper.

As a two-year starter for the Wildcats, he had five interceptions, was a kick-off returner and Pac-10 teams rarely threw to his side of the field because of his elite cover skills. Ross (5-10, 183) has average height but has the speed and athleticism to play the position at the next level.

Furthermore, he is willing to come up and make a tackle in the running game and is a very aggressive player that loves contact. Moreover, one of the main reasons the Eagles are intrigued and interested in his services is because he can effectively play in man or zone coverage due to his elite athleticism and fluid hips.

Of course Ross will need to add some bulk to his frame to play in the NFL and be better against the run, but he has the natural instincts and talent to be a NFL caliber cornerback.

Ultimately, Ross has a great chance to make the roster with the Eagles who are searching for a replacement for the traded Sheldon Brown. Additionally, he can return kicks, which will allow Ellis Hobbs to solely focus on play the right corner position.

Some scouts had Ross projected as high as a fourth-round pick. Nevertheless, Ross will need some seasoning and tutelage from secondary coach Dick Juaron, but the Eagles could have a potential steal on their hands. If there is one spot where a undrafted free agent could make the roster, cornerback is that position, which is one of the weak links on the club.

  1. I predict this guy making the team before our 4th round pick corner, Trevard Lindley. Personally, I think this guy is a lot better because he is extremely fluid, athletic and he likes to hit. As well, Ross played elite QB's in the PAC-10, while Lindley played a bunch of joke QB's in the SEC...Tim Tebow(worst pick in the draft)? Ross played against QB's like Locker, Luck, Massoli, and Barkley. And not only did they play him they stopped throwing to his side.
