Reid Wanted To Keep McNabb Source Says
By Lance Epstein
According to Yahoo! Sports Jason Cole's source, head coach Andy Reid wanted to keep Donovan McNabb in an Eagles uniform. Unfortunately team president Joe Banner and GM Howie Roseman overruled Reid and traded him away to the Redskins.
Reid believed it was McNabb and had voiced his desire for the Eagles to keep him, even if it cost them Kolb. "Andy thinks Kolb is going to be really good, maybe great. But he knows Donovan is great and probably will be for three or four years,” said a source close to Reid.
Furthermore, Cole reported a source close to the situation told him that McNabb could not actually believe the Eagles traded him.
"Frankly, I’m a little shocked,” a source close to McNabb said. "I never thought [the Eagles would] do this. Never. But, yeah, this is the same thing that happened last year.”Besides Cole's article, Mcnabb has released a statement on the going to the Washington Redskins.
I’m really excited about my future with the Washington Redskins. I’m eager to work with coach [Mike] Shanahan. He’s been a very successful coach with a couple of Super Bowl victories on his resume. While it has been my goal to win a Super Bowl in Philadelphia, we came up short. I enjoyed my 11 years and know that we shared a lot more good times than bad.

According to PFT.com, a source says that safety LaRon Landry was offered in the trade. However, it is unsure if the Eagles would receive a 2nd rounder if he was included. Most likely it would not have been the 37th overall pick with him.

I love it! For all you Philly fans that never gave Donovan the respect he deserves, I can't wait to cheer him as he whips your butts twice a year!
ReplyDeleteHey I wanted him to stay. I am not as high on Kolb. Personally, I think he is turnover prone. I give him two years before fans are calling for him to be replaced.
