2010-11 Philadelphia Eagles ScheduleBy Lance Epstein
The Philadelphia Eagles and the NFL have officially released their 2010-11 schedules. The Eagles open up the season week one with the Green Bay Packers at Financial Lincoln Financial Field at 4:15 p.m. est. This is a very interesting game to start with since many fans and experts have compared Aaron Rodgers and Kevin Kolb on multiple occasions due to their career paths in becoming a NFL starting quarterback.
The biggest game circled on the calendar is Oct. 3rd when Donovan McNabb makes his return to Philadelphia. The game could be even a bigger game if the rumors are true that McNabb asked the Redskins brass to bring in Terrell Owens.
The other matchup with the Redskins comes in week 10, as the two teams square off in a Monday Night Football affair. This is the only Monday night game the Eagles have this year.
Furthermore, the Eagles have four Sunday Night Football games: week 5 at San Francisco, week 11 vs. New York Giants, week 14 at Dallas and week 15 at the Giants.
The Eagles for the second time in the last three years, will play a Thursday night game on the NFL Network at home against the upstart Houston Texans. For the third consecutive season, the Eagles will face the Cowboys in the last game of the year. Only this year, the game will be played in Philadelphia.
The toughest part of the Eagles schedule right now appears to be the December and January slate. During that span they play four potential playoff teams. They play the Texans, Minnesota and Cowboys at home. While they have to go on the road and play the Cowboys and Giants in back-to-back weeks.
Still, the Eagles have the easiest schedule in the conference. However, there schedule is ranked as the ninth-toughest schedule in the NFL, based on last year's records. Their opponents combined for a .520 win percentage and were 133-123 record.
Fortunately, the Cowboys have the third toughest in the league with a .543 percentage. The Giants are seventh (.527) and the Redskins are eighth (.523).
The most important part of the schedule is that the Eagles get a much needed bye week in week eight. It is always nice to have a bye right in the middle of the season, which will help the young to recover and get healthy to make a push towards the playoffs.

It is nice to see the schedule looks fairly easy early because I think this team is going to need it. I don't see the opening game against the Packers going well, Kolb will not play as well as Rodgers I just don't see that happening in such a big game for him personally(plus I think the Packers are going to be one of the very best teams in the NFC as it is).
ReplyDeleteI agree. I am very high on Rodgers and the Packers. in fact, if Favre happened to not come back the Packers would be my pick to win the NFC. Their defense needs to get younger at the CB position and Harris might never be the same after his acl injury. Also, they need to get a young tackle that can play immediately. Ultimately, i think the Packers get Charles Brown the OT out of USC and a corner like Chris Cook or Owusu-Anash in the second (Had him as a sleeper in the 3rd or 4th but he is moving up fast. Still Rodgers is becoming a elite qb in the NFL.
ReplyDeleteThat is a picture of Colt Brennan and you know it. You can easily tell because of the white-ness
